Instructions for the use of ECZ400

Requirement of registration

• Registration is required to use ECZ400.
• You may apply for registration at any time.
• Please renew your registration every year.
• Read the following notices and then proceed to the registration form.
• The registration form includes a quiz for you to use NMR safely.
• The registration will be accepted after evaluation of the quiz answer, following approval by the laboratory manager. It may require few days.

Safety precautions

• Do not bring metal products (keys, tweezers, etc) in the NMR room.
• Beware of asphyxiation due to vaporization of refrigerants (liquid nitrogen and liquid helium).
• Please follow Hokkaido University's Guidelines for Prevention of the COVID-19.COVID-19 Health Alerts and Advisories
• Take a safety training course of liquid nitrogen and liquid helium at the Liquid Helium Center.

• Take appropriate training before measurements. Contact staffs if you have any concerns about operation.

Status of ECZ400

• Check this page for scheduled suspension due to maintenance and troubles.
• Be aware of any other posted precautions.
• When you have any trouble, contact your lab's staff.

Reservation System

This equipment is shared by multiple laboratories. All measurements require reservation in advance.

• Short-time reservation up to 3 hr with 10-minutes increments is available during the daytime (9:00 to 18:00, but not later than 18:00).
• Nighttime (18:00 to 9:00) will be reserved as a single reservation term.
• You can make a reservation for a short measurement during nighttime hours if ECZ400 is not reserved on the day after 18:00. However, please follow the rules of each laboratory for nighttime experiments.
• Reservations are made via shared spreadsheet
  • ELMS > G-suite > Drive > shared items.
  • File to reserve from 2023.4.3.

  Please fill your name with laboratory name or ext.no in the cell.

• Please use ECZ400 after logging in with username/password of your laboratory. It will be used to take logs.
• Take a copy of your measured data. Do not store them in the PC of ECZ400 room for a long time.

Registration

Those who took safety training and read and understood the above notice can register from the following registration form.

• You need to log in to ELMS before accessing the registration form.
• The registration form includes a test to ensure safe use of NMR.
• The registration will be accepted after evaluation of the quiz answer, following approval by the laboratory manager. It may require few days.
• You will be noticed via e-mail when registration is completed. Reservation of ECZ400 is available after completion of registration.
