国際イネ研究所(IRRI)上席研究員の山野峰氏（北大農学部OB）をお迎えして，「実証的開発経済学の研究方法−調査設計から論文発表まで−」と題した特別セミナーを開催します。
Dr. Takashi Yamano, Senior Scientist at the International Rice Research Institute, will give a series of special seminars on "Empirical Development Economics in Practice: from Survey Planning to Publication". 

山野氏は，北大農学研究科修士課程修了後，米国ミシガン州立大学でPhD取得，政策研究大学院大学を経て，2008年よりフィリピンの国際イネ研究所(International Rice Research Institute, IRRI)に勤務されています。アジア・アフリカ地域をフィールドに顕著な研究成果を発表し，開発経済学の面から世界規模での貧困解決に貢献しています。
Dr. Yamano holds MS. in Agriculture from Hokkaido University and Ph.D. in Economics and Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University. Prior to joining IRRI, he was a professor of development economics at National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo, Japan. 

この度の集中セミナーは，途上国における実態調査の企画・設計から，統計分析と論文執筆，学術論文公表までの一連の流れを，山野氏の研究経験に基づいて具体的にお話いただきます。
He has published a number of high-quality articles in academic journals such as Journal of Development Economics and World Development. These works have contributed to alleviating poverty in Asia and African countries. 

世界一流の研究者が，どのように研究を進めているのかを知ることのできる絶好の機会です。研究者・大学院生をはじめ，意欲的な学部生などの参加をお待ちしています。なお，セミナーは原則として英語で行われます。
The seminar is an invaluable opportunity to learn how the world leading development economist conducts his research projects from survey planning to publication in practice. Researchers and graduate students, as well as advanced under graduate students, are all encouraged to join the seminar.
