ICYR Activities at CRYO2009

The International Cryobiology Young Researchers' Group (ICYR) is a group of students, post-doctoral associates and professors who work in the field of Cryobiology and are at the early stages of their career. The primary motive of this group is to promote the career development of members, and also to facilitate interaction between young cryobiologists from around the world.

If you want to be a member of the group, contact Steven Mullen (steve@21cm.com) or Sanket Unhale (sanket@email.arizona.edu). It's free!

Also if you are member of the group, but have not been receiving e-mail announcements, please send us an e-mail so that we can update the mailing list.

ICYR is organizing couple of events at CRYO2009, the 46th Annual Meeting of the Society for Cryobiology.

ICYR Mentors Luncheon:
This event is free, but reserved only for ICYR members and invited mentors.

A Mentor's Luncheon will take place on July 21 (12 noon - 2 p.m.). This event will provide ICYR members the opportunity to interact with senior members of the Society for Cryobiology in an intimate but informal setting.

Prof. Satoru Todo is the guest speaker at the event. Dr. Todo is the Professor of General Surgery at the Hokkaido University Medical School and is a well known transplant surgeon. He is actively involved in organ preservation research and will talk about History, Current Status and Prospects of organ preservation, and give us insights into his perspective on the future of this field.

Lunch will be served, courtesy of the organizers of CRYO2009. If you would like to invite a senior member of the Society to this event to share lunch with, please contact Steven or Sanket as soon as possible so that we can send invitations to them.

We anticipate having enough lunches for 50 people, and lunch will be available only to those who register in advance. So, please let us know if you would like to participate as early as possible. We will attempt to accommodate additional ICYR members if more than 50 individuals are interested in attending, but lunch cannot be guaranteed.

ICYR Sporting Event:
On Monday (July 20) at 21:00, the ICYR will host a bowling competition at a bowling alley within walking distance of the conference center. There is no cost to attend, but limited numbers of people can be accommodated, so you must tell Steve Mullen (steve@21cm.com) or Sanket Unhale (sanket@email.arizona.edu) if you are interested in attending, if you have not done so already.
